Wedding anticipation, summer bedding, and books on family rifts
Links we sent our friends #104
Hello! It’s Aja. Sam and I spent the weekend in Wellfleet, a small town near the tip of Cape Cod. We’re getting married here in September. For the first year and a half of our engagement, the wedding felt abstract and far-off — and now, all of the sudden, it feels very real. We’ve sent out invitations; finalized our menu; and started writing our vows. And my bachelorette is in a few weeks! I’ve gotten a bit giddy.

Appreciated this candid clip of Amanda Seyfried discussing her disappointing Les Mis performance. (Aliza: I love her.)
We met up with the lovely
last week, and she reminded us how good Donni’s pants are.Are you watching the latest season of Couple’s Therapy? I need an entire show just following Orna.
Finally caved and got some Skims and… okay, okay, I get it.
Adult punch cards! I want the “read fiction before bed” and “spread joy” ones.
Thank you for pointing out AI’s staggering environmental costs on last Thursday’s piece. Karen Hao’s incredible book, Empire of AI, draws attention to the problem and potential solutions. We’re also donating half of our June affiliate income to the Union of Concerned Scientists, a national non-profit using science to combat climate change and develop sustainable ways to feed, power, and transport ourselves.

This feature on the town where Sinners was based made me like the movie even more.
My life would’ve been so much easier if Warby Parker for kids had existed when I started wearing glasses in fifth grade… (Aja: Wow, same.)

Are you rewatching any shows right now? Sam and I (Aja) just started The Sopranos, and Aliza and her Sam2 have been making their way through Sex and the City. There’s something so comforting and almost… wholesome (?) about a rewatch. Tell us what you’re watching again (or for the first time!)

This is inspiring me to do a Jude fashion round-up. (Aja: Please!!)
In case you’re new here: Yes, both our partners are named Sam. It’s confusing.
So glad to see recognition of the environmental costs of AI. It's honestly one of my biggest gripes when people use it "just because" - it's become too easy! Also the ethical considerations - what data is/was used to train AI? Who benefitted? Who was wronged?
I have such mixed feelings about kids clothing!! I would love them to wear cute stuff all the time but I also know how much joy the Lightning McQueen t-shirt and cheesy Elsa nightgown (worn as a dress, ofc) brings them. As adults (and even starting in the tweens) we learn to confine our wardrobe to what we think it acceptable to our peers and societal expectations...I sort of just want them to love what their little selves love for now, tattered character garb and all.
I also just finished a SATC rewatch and I'm thinking about embarking on a Dawson's Creek rewatch?! I feel like it would stir so much teenage nostalgia, perfect for summer!
