It’s not hard to find small press books. Rose Books. Tyrant Books. Short Flight Long Drive Books. House of Vlaad Books. Start following some on Twitter and the rest will start popping up. They’re everywhere! Rose Books is the best. Interview Chelsea Hodson.
To answer your question: haaaaaard yes. My childhood bestie got into kpop in high school (circa 2010) and I judged her hardcore at first. About a year later I was just as obsessed. That interest eventually led me to major in sociology and study abroad in Korea, where I volunteer taught English for the first time. And now I teach abroad in Germany! Talk about a butterfly effect 🦋
Happy Memorial Day! I really felt your intro Aja and love that you’ve come to appreciate your own experience with techno. My husband is VERY into music — all kinds — but especially Bluegrass and Jam Band music. I definitely have some acts I love and some I can’t stand. I’m pretty stubborn, kinda lazy and don’t love drinking or being in big crowds, so we had to work together to figure out how to be in these spaces together. And I had to let go a bit and learn to appreciate his joy and the music — some of which I’ve come to love and listen to on my own! Two artists I’ve discovered since that I’d recommend: Sierra Ferrell, a former busker turned country musician who I like to think of as the Lana Del Rey of country — currently on tour with Post Malone (?) and Railroad Earth, an Americana jam band paying homage to a Jack Kerouac poem.
Thank you again for the feature. Regarding something people got me into – hiking! It's something I never thought I'd enjoy, but I do, now. I wish I lived closer to hiking trails, but when I get the opportunity to hike, I'm always up for it!

These are great suggestions, thanks Lauren!
Demon Copperhead is an incredible book and so relevant to today in America. HIGHLY recommend. Also Barbara Kingsolver is a QUEEN.
Probably my favorite author of all time. Did you see her interview in the Big Salad newsletter last week??
Whaaaa?! Noooo going there now! ✌️
I somehow ended up in a group of friends who all love/DJ/produce drum and bass, which I do not like.
However, I've had a great time with them at drum and bass raves all over the UK and Europe! It's all about the people!
100% agree.
