Art cafés, cookbook clubs, and a spring countdown
Links we sent our friends #88 feat. Becca Freeman
Hello! We have an important PSA: Spring is only 31 days away.1
Brooklyn-based is a triple threat: author, newsletter writer, and podcast host (with former Platonic Love guest, !) She also has incredible taste in skirts and dresses (exhibits A, B, and C); a great eye for good books; and an impressively reliable radar for trends. All on display in today’s links…

I can’t stop thinking about this newsletter by
about the difference between resting and rotting.Officially starting my campaign for a dinner invite to chef Dan Pelosi’s gorgeously renovated Hudson Valley home. It’s so chic, colorful, and cozy I may never leave. (Aja: We’re big Grossy fans in this household! Check out our conversation with him here.)
This one is NYC-centric, but mentioning it because I think it should exist everywhere. Last week, I went to Happy Medium, an art café where you can order craft projects like pottery painting or watercolors off the menu. They give you all the supplies and you craft for 2 hours — bliss!
I’m predicting this is the year of the literary romance novel. I loved this one set in the early-aughts indie music scene (coming out next week).
It feels like we’re in a golden age of spy thriller TV. I just finished The Agency on Paramount+ starring Michael Fassbender and Jodie Turner-Smith. I’m also loving this era of big screen actors taking on TV roles (looking at you, Eddie Redmayne in The Day of the Jackal — another excellent new spy thriller).

I’m thrilled bootcut jeans are back in — they’re so flattering and easy-to-wear. These are my favorite pair (I also like these from Abercrombie.) (Aliza: This is the Kendrick effect, yeah?)
A 2025 movie scavenger hunt! Would you do this?
Banana water doesn’t sound like it’d be that good, but I’m telling you: Hunt this down, because it’s one of the best beverages I’ve ever had.
Loved this peek inside a communal house in Brooklyn. (The whole thing is verrry Brooklyn.)
I can’t stop thinking about the adorable Anthro dress Aliza wore to our Galentine’s event. The striped version is perfect for spring.

.Wow, these shoes are adorable. And so are these if we’re really dreaming. (I’m still getting my money’s worth from these.)
A heartwarming father-and-daughter road-trip… with no phones.

Barbara Kingsolver used the profits from Demon Copperhead to build a rehab center for women. (As if I needed another reason to adore her.) In case you missed it a few years ago: Kingsolver on Ezra Klein’s podcast is one of my all-time favorite interviews.
These toddler accessories are so sweet. Hair clips! Waist bags! (H/t last week’s interviewee
.)Aja was wearing a gorgeous shimmery (yet subtle) gold eyeshadow at our event a few weeks ago… and so I’ve copied her. (Aja: Love! This is the one I was wearing — so pretty and virtually no skill needed to apply.)
Four phrases to avoid using with your kids. (I use almost all of these daily, so this was a helpful read.)
This small bedtime surprise was a huge hit with my toddler.
Excited to read , a new Substack from
and about the highs and lows of parenting.
What’s your hyper-specific love language? I (Aja) love giving and receiving heartfelt cards (and have started taking pictures of the cards I’ve written for other people to reread later). I also love when I ask someone to guess what I’m going to order at a restaurant and they get it exactly right. Tell us yours!

Such an honor (and a blast) to share current obsessions here!
Aliza! What a wonderful surprise to see Savoring Each Season mentioned—so grateful for you and Aja’s support! Thank you! It’s so fun to see some of your lovely Platonic Love followers checking out SES. : )
I’m a weekly BOP listener, so I was thrilled to see Becca on Platonic Love this morning. I love her links—and wow, Dan Pelosi’s Hudson Valley home is pure warmth and joy!
