A stylish sports bra, summer romance rereads, and Lena Dunham's latest essay

Hi! How was your weekend? In Somerville, it was Porchfest, which is like a city-wide musical block party. Sam and I (Aja) wandered from street to street, first catching an amazing funk performance, then some bluegrass, a few rock songs by a band of adorable teenage girls, and closing out with a huge house music show where we bumped into a bunch of friends. It was pretty magical. (Aliza: Then I went over and sat on Aja and Sam’s couch for a few hours so they could tell me all about it, since I couldn’t make it this year. Also fun!)
A few months ago,
and I (Aja) got coffee. My friend Mike, who’d worked with her when she led marketing for the running brand Tracksmith, said we had to meet. He was right. We immediately bonded over Substack (Lee runs , a unique newsletter about the intersection of sports and style), parenting and ambition (she’s a new mom who only got more ambitious after having her kid), romance books (we’re both fans), and, of course, clothes. I think you’ll love her, too…Lee’s Links:
I’m training for a half-marathon and am loving this top for runs. It looks great styled for everyday wear, too.
There’s something so comforting about returning to a favorite book. Two of my go-tos are The Spoils of Time, a WWI and WWII British family saga, and Flame in the Mist, which features my favorite romantic trope: woman disguised as man.
I’m always on the lookout for easy 5” shorts, and this red pair is calling my name.
My platonic outfit ideal is a vintage top and jeans. We Thieves is an amazing vintage shop in Boston — curated enough to steer you in the right direction, but not so precious you can’t do some digging. I’m also obsessed with Caus, an Essex boutique selling impeccably sourced vintage and modern styles. (The owner, Ashley, is the coolest mom I’ve ever met.) (Aliza: Ashley and I coincidentally met last year waiting in line in Boston for Maggie Rogers tickets…!) (Aja: Small world!!)
One of my favorite discoveries from a recent London trip was Straw, a boutique on Columbia Road. I bought these gingham trousers for my ten-month-old son that I would very much like to steal...

This nonprofit makes custom dolls for kids with disabilities. The photos made me tear up a little.
These jean shorts are the best — so freaking flattering, and currently on sale.
Lena Dunham on why she left New York. (I’ve missed her writing!)
The customer in front of me at my favorite coffee shop was wearing this cool clip. I tapped her on the shoulder to compliment it, and she told me that happens every time she wears it. (Aliza: This is such a sweet interaction. And I want the clip, too!)
I stayed up later than I should’ve last week watching this. It felt both nostalgic and new in a really delicious way. Are you watching? Thoughts??
Rumeysa Ozturk, the Tufts University student who ICE unconstitutionally detained in Somerville six weeks ago, has finally been released. (Gift link.) I’ve been donating to this organization, which runs a Massachusetts ICE hotline.

Too funny and too real. (Aja: Uh, I reject this narrative for you. You’re wearing bright colors in the last FIVE mirror selfies you’ve sent me.)
It’s funny Aja talked to a stranger about her clip this week… because I noticed a cool new mom at daycare pickup wearing these clogs. When I told her I loved them, she let me try them on, and now I want them.
I *only* want to be listening to
’s disco hi-life playlist while I drive with the windows down.Something strange is happening to the job market for college grads. (Gift link)
Can’t let you miss this deal: Stocking up on prenatal (and other) vitamins while they’re 40% off…!
I’m excited for
’s gorgeously illustrated new book on how to build a community beyond your nuclear family. Isn’t the cover beautiful?
Porchfest has me (Aja) recommitted to sprucing up our backyard. If you have an outdoor space, I’d love all your recs — from furniture and lights to tips on doing outdoor dining.
Where should we start??
