A new/old jean trend, dinner party rules, and the best brownie recipe ever
Hi! Aliza here. Last week was a comedy of errors: a $120 parking ticket, appointment scheduling mistakes, a visit to Shriner’s Children's Hospital (Jude is okay), and traffic on the way to the train station that meant I nearly didn’t make my work trip.
I’m usually pretty good about bouncing back from a shitty day — but when a day turns into a week, I need a full factory reset. Saturday night turned out to be just that: I met up with Aja and our friends to laugh, drink negronis and wine, and dance to disco and R&B. I woke up on Sunday morning in need of coffee — but also pretty close to restored.

The other thing that helped cure my shitty week… Lindsay Lohan. Specifically, her new Netflix movie (it was cuuute.) (Aja: Alright, alright, I’ll watch it.)
Ina Garten has me rethinking what it takes to host a good dinner party.1 She’s a genius.
I loved this documentary following female entrepreneurs trying to get funding. It features women like Vicky Pasche, founder of a body-inclusive apparel line, and Jasmine Jones, CEO of Myya, a custom bra line for breast cancer patients.
A great band to check out if you’re a HAIM fan.
Thoughts on Stanley’s new “leak-proof” lid?

As I told Aliza in a voice note last week, I think skinny jeans are back?! I wore some to my birthday dinner with these boots and was like, yep, this is why skinny jeans are great! I felt sexy! (Of course
called this a month ago.)This brownie recipe has been going viral on Reddit for over a year now, and people are calling them the best brownies they’ve ever had…
Great suggestions for what to read next from
.The Monastery team recently sent us their new red light mask, and wow: I highly recommend. I’ve done daily 10-minute sessions for the last few weeks, and I can see my acne scars lightening. I think my eyelashes are getting thicker, too 😮 At first, I wondered if I was imagining it, but did some research… and red light therapy is one of the few things dermatologists seem to universally agree works. (Aliza: Omg! Okay, I need to start ASAP!)
Question we asked our friends:
I’d love to hear: What are your tried-and-true ways of boosting your mood during difficult weeks? (For me, it was sleep more, spend time with friends, and watch a romcom.)
