Hi! Aliza here. For my birthday last month, Sam gave me this incredible journal slash calendar.1 We started using it as a gratitude journal — every night, we each write down a few things that made us happy that day. I’ve been a fairly consistent solo journaler since my teens, but there’s something about doing it together that feels really intimate and like the perfect daily capstone.
Below, we’re sharing more journal recommendations, outfit ideas, some questions about sex, and more…

My default journal is this classic.2 But sometimes I branch out. Some other options I love include this gorgeous floral hardcover (currently 30% off), this pebbled leather softcover (also 30% off, and would make a great gift), and, when I need some some mental R&R, this coloring/affirmations spiraled notebook from our internet friend
.I had leftover vision and FSA benefits to spend before the end of the year, and these glasses are my new personality. For those who are more fashion-forward: Warby Parker launched a very cool line with Emma Chamberlain last week.

, author of .I need to quickly finish Patrick Radden Keefe’s best-selling book so that I can watch the new Say Nothing miniseries on FX with Sam. (I can rarely go back to the book after I’ve watched the show or movie — even if the book is better. Anyone else?) (Aja: Absolutely.)
As if we didn’t all have a big enough crush on Leo Woodall after One Day!!!??

I’ve been trying to get an appointment with this tattoo artist for years now — her work is truly stunning.
Bodega Cats is my favorite Instagram account of the moment. (I mean!)
Has anyone else noticed Buck Mason is having a real moment? I bought this shirt on the way to meet my friend for dinner. She showed up wearing this beautiful sweater — which she said she’d bought the day before and was obsessed with. And then I saw a man walk into the restaurant holding his own Buck Mason bag.
I’m not gonna buy these jeans. That would be crazy. But they felt really, really good when I tried them on. (Aliza: What about this similar but much more affordable pair?)
Question we asked our friends:
Earlier this fall, Aja confessed she missed the days of talking frequently about sex among friends. We weren’t sure whether it would resonate… but many of you agreed! You want to talk more about sex with friends, too.
We’re keeping the conversation going and are curious to know: How frequently do you talk to your friends about sex? How much detail do you give or get? How much detail do you want to give or get? Does talking about sex with friends influence your relationship to sex?
Share your thoughts with this quick and anonymous survey, and we’ll publish the results in an upcoming issue.

I especially like the art on each page.
The Moleskine sketchbook (not journals) are my favorite because they don’t have lines. But I know that’s a controversial opinion.
Fun fact: I’ve still never been to the Books are Magic store, but they have some of the best merch for bookworms! Jennifer included one of their baseball caps in her roundup; I got Aja this purple beanie for her birthday last year and have been tempted multiple times to get myself a matching one. (Aja: I love my beanie!! It reminds me of Harold’s purple crayon.)
I love the Shop Cats instagram - it's so cute. I also love seeing my neighborhood bodega cat!
My (random) journal rec is from Shinola (yes, the Detroit watch company!) - specifically their large linen plain journal. I also prefer unlined pages since I use it as a writing journal and an art journal, and the perfectly weighted pages stand up to collaging, doodling, you name it. Plus its the ideal size - 7x9 - so I never feel cramped or contrained by it. I've never found anything as perfect as this (and I have tried!!). It used to come in so many beautiful colors, but you can make their current black/gray colorways special with complimentary monogramming. Anyways, that's my Shinola spiel!! Thanks for all the other fun recs this week.
