Plane snacks, cute baby clothes, and some under-the-radar book/movie recs
Hi! Aliza here. We’re on the way home from Minneapolis after a weekend with my whole fam.1 We spent most of it outside, enjoying the gorgeous weather: running the Twin Cities Ten Miler2 (not me), walking, chatting, chasing Jude… It was special. How was your weekend?
Aliza’s Links:
Our new favorite airplane snack. (Jude liked counting and sorting them — and he ate a lot, too.)
Any Philly fans? I’m kind of in love with Old Navy’s newest line of vintage-feeling sports apparel. (I bought the Bulls one. It’s so soft!)

.Planning a wedding? (Hi, Aja.) Experts say don’t spend on these money sinkholes. (Aja: Ooh, you can always count on The Cut being divisive. I’m a strong “yes” on #1, a strong “no” on #2, and was already planning on #3 through #6.)
I cannot stop thinking about the many, many beautiful tributes3 to (and videos of) Broadway actor Gavin Creel that I’ve read and watched over the last week.

My friend Lilly recommended this shampoo to me, and after using it, I had one of the best hair days I’ve had in a long time…
Should we all start refusing to make plans more than six weeks away?
Sam and I saw My Old Ass on Saturday, and wow — it was one of my favorite movies of 2024. (Probably second only to Perfect Days!) Funny, nostalgic, beautiful, and real, and Aubrey Plaza is a national treasure. (Aliza: cannot wait to see this!)
Having these on my counter makes me feel classy, lol. (And now that I think about it, they’d make a great gift.)
I read Half an Inch of Water, Percival Everett’s short story collection, because there was an 80-person waitlist at my library for both James and Erasure. Good decision! It was a great intro to his style, and every single story hit.
The only pair of sweatpants I actually feel cool wearing in public.
Question we asked our friends:
What’s the one thing you always order when it’s on the menu? Aja says eggplant, and it’s very difficult for me to turn down burrata…
In case you missed it:

Does anyone have tips for how to get a two-year-old to sleep on an evening flight?
This beautiful (and quick!) race is worth adding to your list if you’re a runner. There are half marathon and full marathon distances too.
Gift link. The comments are worth reading — a lot of people sharing their personal experiences with Gavin. His is an immeasurable loss and beautiful example for how to live.
I'm historically not a burrata person, but I would go back to Giulia for that peach burrata alone...
Aliza, my condolences as you’ve now entered the freeze-dried portion of motherhood—please bid farewell to your disposable income!! (Mangoes are a favorite of my kids, and if you’re close to a TJs their prices are slightly more palatable!)
