Sooo many sweaters, sex conversation starters, and an invite to hang with us
Hey, it’s Aja! Aliza and I got to hang out not once but three times this weekend. (Aliza: This is not normal, but I wish it was normal!) On Friday night, she hosted a low-key birthday party at her place with cocktails, collaging, and pizza. On Saturday, she brought Jude and I brought Sam to our friend’s backyard harvest party. (They had a great time “playing” cornhole together.) And on Sunday, I met her after hot yoga for a Platonic Love planning session.1 This weekend reminded me how much I love the intimacy of frequent, casual hang-outs. The conversation creates itself — like the more you talk, the more you have to talk about. (Aliza: Aw, agreed.)
Speaking of hanging out… we’re going to a modern romance speaker event in Cambridge, MA in a few weeks and would love for you to join us. Zan Romanoff, author of 831 Stories’ first book Big Fan, will be chatting about love, sex, scandal, and romance at the Charles Hotel on Friday, November 22nd. Get your tickets here. (And catch up on our conversation with the 831 Stories founders here.) It’s gonna be fun!

Friends, I have a treasure trove of pre-loved sweaters at great prices for you. (I just bought two and can’t justify any more.) From Sézane: I have this cardigan in navy and love it, and the baby blue might be even cuter; check out the buttons on this one; and this classic is up for grabs in pink, black, navy, and camel.
From DÔEN: This cardigan is gorgeous and looks so cozy; this cashmere one gives me Sienna Miller vibes; and you could wear this soft one all season long.
Last but very much not least, from my personal favorite brand for sweaters, La Ligne: I have the navy-and-red striped version of this sweater and wear it all the time — it hangs so perfectly. This striped one is adorable and the price is really good. And I love the buttons on this cream one (15% off!)
Remember the Timothée Chamalet look-a-like contest I linked to last week? Timothée himself showed up! (Aliza: Omg, no way!!! That makes me like him more, hah.)
I’m still recovering from the secondhand stress of Free Solo, but that’s not going to stop me from watching the latest documentary featuring climber Alex Honnold, The Devil’s Climb.
Loved this story about two families who bought a second home together in upstate New York — and why one couple ultimately moved out.

Do you have a voting plan??? Now’s the time! Not sure if you can make it to the polls next Tuesday? Early voting is in full swing in most states. LET’S MAKE THIS ONE A BLOWOUT, LADIES.
I’m sure I’ve linked it in the newsletter before, but it’s worth including again: This has been my favorite body wash for years. It felt very luxurious when our London hotel had it “on tap” last week.
If you’re looking for your next binge watch with a hint of suspense — and a sexy leading man — Netflix just dropped a new season of one of my favorites. I’m locked in.
I might need one of these large, vibrant prints from real paintings for the empty wall in my bedroom. (H/t
.)Still not talking about sex enough with your friends? This should give you some good conversation starters… (Aja: I need to share a longer update on this, but I’ve definitely been chatting about sex more lately! It’s been great!)
Question we asked our friends:
Aliza and I have been talking about how unsettled we feel heading into election week. What are you going to do the night of? Our friends Blake and Suz had a great idea: They’re going out to dinner with another couple, which will keep them off their phones; after dinner, they’ll check what’s happening but with a strict cut-off time so they don’t stay up all night. I think Sam and I are going to copy them.
What about you: Are you going out? Staying in? Getting together with people? Hiding under the covers until the results are final? If you have any tips or tricks that might make the night easier, please share!2
In case you missed it:
If you enjoy reading Platonic Love each week, there are a few ways to let us know: “like” this post, leave a comment, buy us a coffee, or upgrade to a Paid subscription. Thanks for your support!
Would a post on how we run PL — both the business and creative sides — be interesting?
I (Aja) was alone in 2016, (it was the night before a big work event), and ohhhh boy that was a hard night. Aliza was living in Washington, DC at the time and said random strangers were hugging and crying on the street for days afterwards.
This year I am serving as an election judge for the first time! I am working the closing shift, which will keep me off my phone (presumably) until the polls close. But after that I'll be watching TV with Twitter close at hand. And maybe a small botttle of Chardonnay.
My friends and I are planning to watch the results together, I will stay up VERY late, and we all have taken the next day off and are doing spa treatments~ either in mourning, celebration, or I guess, uncertainty. Regardless, friends make everything better!
