Thank you so much for having me!! <3

My first (and only) tattoo is a tiny lotus on my back (also somewhat impromptu)! I'd thought about it for a long time but never had the right moment. Then while on a trip to Amsterdam during our study abroad semester, a gf and I got the same one together in different places. I nearly always forget about it until I catch a peek of it in a photo every now and then.

Ok that underwear article - since having a baby I am no longer into thongs at allllll. I revamped my underwear drawer with CUUP and two whipped pairs from negative, and the CUUP ones are nice but I’ve started doing laundry more often to wear the negative ones more often 😂😂 all I’m asking for for Christmas is the negative underwear!!! Worth every penny

My first tattoo was my little brother's birthdate, then part of my favourite song lyrics and then an anchor with the number 13 (back when I got it a tattoo studio where I live used to tattoo the number 13 in different styles on every Friday the 13th for 13€ lol) and after the first three I kinda crossed a threshold and my tattoos didn't really have to have a big meaning anymore, just things I like or find funny/interesting. For instance, I have some Lord of the Rings tattoos and a tattoo of Archimedes from The Sword in the Stone (at least I think that's the original movie title, in German it's "Die Hexe und der Zauberer", so 'The Witch and the Wizard"). Even the few tattoos I wouldn't get again now, I still love because of the memories they carry.

I've heard about this threshold — I really like it, actually, it takes so much of the pressure off each tattoo. And I love the philosophy of "the memories they carry." That's definitely how I'm trying to think of my treehouse. :)

I have a semicolon tattoo on the inside of my right wrist. The semicolon denotes a continuation instead of an end, like a period that closes a sentence. Our stories are far from over, no matter how hard the struggle is right now. I have had people recognize the symbol and I’ve gotten to tell them how glad I am that they are here.

I'm glad *you're* here. Thanks for sharing, Annette. <3

I had a tattoo phase last fall, which is when I got my first two tattoos at 38 years old. I won't go into the meaning behind them, but the first had been carefully considered for decades and the second was extremely impulsive- I don't love it, but I do remind myself that these tattoos came after a particularly difficult postpartum health time period and were way of reclaiming my body as my own. I would love to get a larger plant of some sort on my arm sometime in the next year.

The image of you using tattoos to reclaim your body is a really beautiful one. And a plant on your arm sounds gorgeous; I love that placement.

I only have one tattoo, and it is quite new! My younger brother has Down Syndrome and Autism, and among a life filled with magical friendship and deep romances, he is the greatest love story of my life. We get each other in a way that feels cosmic and perfect... I could go on forever! I knew he would have to inspire any first tattoo I got, but I never knew quite what it would be. One day, I realized that when my mom was pregnant with him, I was three years old and obsessed with Dora the Explorer, so we called the baby in her belly "Boots." Now, his name is Cal and we call him "Cal-erpillar." A caterpillar wearing boots! It fits my love of whimsical silly things and it makes me think of Cal and his sweet creativity. Cal is a KING of concrete thinking, so while he was excited to see something new on my arm he gave 0 shits about what it represented... which I knew would happen :) it made me giggle so much!

I now have 12 tattoos (I think). My most recent is a ten-year anniversary one with my husband on the backs of our ankles. We also have our wedding date in Roman numerals on our shoulders. The most surprising one is inside my lip—😝 I got it in college with 8 of my girlfriends. We each chose something different; mine says 'LOVE,' with a cupcake as the 'O.' 🙃

My first tattoo is on my side, near my rib cage and it’s two jaguars to symbolize for Normandie. I lived in Haute-Normandie for two years as an assistante de langue. And it was some of the best years of my life thus far. My second is a wooden spoon on the inside of my arm to represent my passion for cooking and how food brings people together.

Wow, Sarah, those are incredible! So representative of you and your history — I love them.

I have three tattoos. All have different meanings and all represent different phases of my life. I use them as reminders of words or feelings I want to carry with me every day.

I have 2 tattoos! As someone who grew up thinking only edgy cool kids could pull them off, I am thrilled I proved myself wrong.

- one says "388 U.S. 1" which is the supreme court case # of Loving vs Virginia, the case that legalized interracial marriage

- the other is larger floral piece on my forearm that was designed based on my wedding bouquet.

My younger brother and I have gotten 2 tattoos together, one of them was the same tattoo, and it's just been such a fun bonding experience for us. I have a few others, but he only has the 2 we've gotten together and I think he sees me as his tattoo buddy now, which just melts my heart.

Wow I love that. My younger siblings are twins; a few years ago, they got the same tattoo and I've always thought it was really lovely.
