Love Is Blind, restaurant tricks, a sweatshirt for Jude, and more
Good morning! Aja here. It was a rainy weekend in Boston, which honestly (I’m among friends, yes?) I vastly prefer to blue skies and sunshine — I love the sense of turning inwards that happens when it rains, everyone cozied up in their homes and coffee shops and bars. It’s no surprise that I identify as an “indoor cat.”1 (Sam is also an indoor cat — “the only camping I’ll do is glamping,” he’s told me firmly on multiple occasions — while I think Aliza is an outdoor dog.) I’ve tried to find a Reddit thread or Vox explainer about this theory of personality, but no luck… guess you’ll need to take my word for it.

The small tricks restaurants use to make you feel special.
Okay, this is fascinating: Alone in Antarctica for half a year, 26 people start developing a new accent.
Sam has spontaneously mentioned how much he loves the scent of our latest laundry detergent not once but twice. I’m a big fan too. It’s a little sweet, a little piney, and the scent lingers in a lovely way.
How adorable is this top… and this model?!
Perfect Days was the perfect antidote to some low-grade work stress this weekend. It was meditative, tender, and beautifully shot — and I loved all of the vignettes of daily life in Tokyo. Highly recommend!

After a 24-hour stomach bug last week (and the critical need for a palette cleanser post-One Day, IYKYK), Love Is Blind finally hooked me.2
’s ode to episode eight of this season was hilarious, and I cannot wait to listen to and (the GOATs) get into the penultimate episodes as well as post-season rumorville.Sadly learning (again) even the most feminist brands can’t avoid serious drama — and treating employees badly.
The cutest sweatshirt for my nearly 18-month-old.
Sam and I’ve got a good routine going, but a conversation this weekend reminded me we’d like to try the Fair Play cards. (If you’ve never heard of them, these conversation cards — based on the eponymous book — are designed to help families balance and manage household responsibilities.)
Newsletter we sent our friends:
I (Aja) was genuinely laughing out loud through
’s latest essay, in which she details the behind the scenes of her Margaritaville cruise report for The Washington Post.Like Continental Breakfast’s namesake (never the point of the trip, Natalie explains), her newsletter celebrates the less glamorous stuff between point A and B of travel. The stories are good, and she’s an incredible writer. I look forward to each new piece.
Question we asked our friends:
What are your top three Girl Scout cookies? (Inspired by a dinner at Aliza’s a few weeks ago — after we ate several homemade pizzas, she brought out a few different boxes. It was the perfect end to the meal.)

The choices are indoor cat, outdoor cat, indoor dog, and outdoor dog.
I don’t think I picked up my Kindle once last week. It’s that bad.
My stack-ranking:
1. Caramel deLites
2. Lemonades (controversial?)
3. Tagalongs
I just purchased Samoas, S'mores, and Thin Mints (which immediately went into the freezer.)
