I still identify as a Reddit lurker, but when I was pregnant I found my Reddit “bump group” - a place for parents having babies that month of the year. It was so nice to have a corner of the internet where people were feeling and experiencing the same things I was! The group is still active today and we’ve moved on from “why does this hurt” to “why won’t my child sleep” 😊 also +1 to the interior design subreddits. Learned so much about the best paint colors based on my rooms direction.
I have heard good things about Reddit bump groups!! They're private and require verification of your due date, right? Really really love the idea of having a safe space/forum for questions, rants, validation, etc. during such a new, exciting, yet disorienting time.
- r/AITA (Am I the asshole?) for anyone who wants to enjoy Normal Gossip-style discussion of whether the poster is in the right or wrong
- r/LoveIsBlindOnNetflix (or whatever reality show you love) for anyone who has exhausted their IRL friends’ interest in deep diving their favorite reality show
I knew nothing about Reddit before reading this, and found it super-useful! I had the impression Reddit was all negative rabbit-holes and obscure obsessions, but will now embrace it as a great resource!
I used Reddit so much when planning a recent renovation. The appliance Reddit board had employees of major brands giving invites to employee store with major discounts. I saved close to $5,000 using that!
Randomly I’m fascinated with a Reddit board for detectorists and bottle diggers 😂 I love seeing the stuff people find digging through creeks and mud.
Cannot wait to delve into these you’ve listed — especially the interior design help! I can stop bugging my sisters about tile.
I've always been Reddit curious - this is a great cliff notes to get started. Thank you. Any suggestions for fashion subreddits? I'm thinking Luxury Fashion, Retailers, Handbags? Also, Taylor Swift??
Great question! I haven't delved as deeply into fashion subreddits, so would love to hear other's suggestions, but are ones I've explored and liked:
- https://www.reddit.com/r/LuxeFashion_NatFibers/ for people who care deeply about clothes quality and material composition — silk, organic cotton, linen, cashmere alpaca merino wool leather, etc.
- https://www.reddit.com/r/handbags/ a very passionate community for bags — skews designer, but all brands/types welcome. Well-organized with lots of photo posts.
- https://www.reddit.com/r/femalefashionadvice/ a large, popular subreddit for anything related to women's fashion; I don't tend to get a lot of inspiration here, but the discussions can be very interesting.
- https://www.reddit.com/r/Sneakers/ Reddit has this Sneakerhead community but not an equivalent one for other types of designer/rare shoes...
For TSwift, I do have to warn you, it's a more charged part of Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/TaylorSwift/ is the "core" subreddit; https://www.reddit.com/r/SwiftlyNeutral/ is for fans who tend to be a little more vocal with any criticism (e.g. you'll find people talking about her private jet usage in r/SwiftlyNeutral but probably not r/TaylorSwift.
If you are a book lover and tired of getting the same stuff fed to you over and over from algorithms, check out r/IReadABookAndAdoredIt which is exactly what it sounds like. All posts are books people love so it’s a giant list of book suggestions. Bonus: it’s a super friendly community!

I love r/whatsthatbook. I have so many memories of books as a child but no idea what they are. People will help you find them.
This is amazing
I love love this. Two huge recs:
- r/AITA (Am I the asshole?) for anyone who wants to enjoy Normal Gossip-style discussion of whether the poster is in the right or wrong
- r/LoveIsBlindOnNetflix (or whatever reality show you love) for anyone who has exhausted their IRL friends’ interest in deep diving their favorite reality show
Big big fan of the reality-tv subreddits; it gives me that "we just left a party and now we're going to dissect each moment" vibes.
Perfectly put

Come on in, the water's warm 😊
Reddit is my no. 1 as well. Mostly lurk but I love r/BravoRealHousewives and a ton of cat subreddits 😭
Ahaha I love (but am not surprised) that there are *multiple* cat subreddits.
as a new reddit lurker, i needed these recs
Yay, glad to hear it!
Two I love to lurk on that are just good vibes are r/CozyPlaces (literally just people posting their cozy spaces) and
r/BooksThatFeelLikeThis (you can ask for book recs based on certain visuals, moods, etc)
These are very good vibes — adding them to the rotation.
Would love a part 2!! I go on Reddit every day and got so many good subreddits out of this!
I've been keeping a Notes list of more subreddits for a sequel — ty for the inspiration!
Woohoo! 🥳

+1 on money diaries!
Highly recommend The Purse by Lindsey Stanberry as well (she founded R29’s Money section and ran Money Diaries for several years!)
Weekend plans: lurking on all of these subreddits
Ok looking at Fridge Detective and extremely entertained
Right?!

- https://www.reddit.com/r/luxurypurses/ a much smaller sub-community focusing explicitly on luxury bags/accessories.
- https://www.reddit.com/r/TheHermesGame/ a fascinating look at how people strategize their way to a Birkin (!!)

Yes!! Thank you. I just listened to an amazing business podcast on Hermes so I know where I’m starting.
r/findfashion is great if you’re trying to find something specific that’s difficult to source!
Love this as a new Reddit lurker! I've been in the luxury candle one but pulled back, lest I go off the deep end LOL - MF
WISE I may need to take a breather as well. The sales don't stop!
I'm new to Reddit but have been lurking there more often as I've been redecorating our living room. This is so helpful!!!
Yay, glad to hear it!!
I needed this!
