Megababe Rosy Pits is truly the only natural (I think?) deodorant to ever work for me - works as good as the old stuff!

q: why the desire for a "natural" deodorant? a gentle reminder that there is NO scientific evidence that "natural" products are safer or healthier than their non-natural (?) counterparts. healthcare workers and scientists have repeatedly tried to debunk these myths and fearmongering: https://www.cedars-sinai.org/csmagazine/do-natural-deodorants-work.html.

Ooh, thanks for this comment! I did a little more digging and found this NYT article helpful too: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/09/well/live/natural-deodorant-questions.html

I'll let Aliza speak to what she's looking for, but overall, it seems like natural deodorants aren't "bad" for you. They just may not be BETTER than non-natural. (Let me know if you're understanding the research differently.)

Rad, thank you for sharing this! I actually didn't realize that the myth that aluminum and other ingredients could cause breast cancer, etc. had been debunked, so appreciate you sharing!

i think that's right, aja! the research indicates that there are no real health upsides to using natural products (altho ofc you might love the scent etc). i just think that as folks w/ a platform, it's important not to feed more fearmongering about science and chemicals (particularly in the current climate - im looking at you, RFK Jr).

Happy Monday! Alike you, I've tried (and failed to enjoy) too many natural deodorants. Got this one over the holidays and LOVE it: https://www.saltandstone.com/en-ca/products/natural-deodorant?variant=42738010095866

I feel like I’ve tried every natural deodorant on the market and my favorite hands down is Evolve Together—Havana and Tulum scents are dreamy. You can get the discovery set to test them out (they are pretty decent sample sizes). https://evolvetogether.com/collections/natural-deodorant

I have tried several other natural deodorants last year and either felt they didn’t work or hated the scents. I got the Salt & Stone minis and feel that I finally found one that works for me - scent and efficacy. I like the Bergamot & Hinoki best. I do still use Megababe’s charcoal deodorant soap but I did not like any of the MB deodorants.

I like the natural deo brand “la vanille” (i’m not a vanilla person if that influences you @ all, i’m not entirely sure why that’s the name because there are different scents/flavors). Works great (smooth, long lasting), smells good, my entire family uses it

Yes, I want to hear more about these annual retreats!! Makes me want to have a co-Substacker so I can do this too.

I've recently been intrigued by the Salt + Stone deodorant - Santal + Vetiver. Have not tried it yet so cannot speak to it yet, but will report back once I do!

I have found the addition of charcoal to be a game changer for me! I use the Space Bar Underarm Soap from Megababe and the Charcoal & Magnesium Deodorant from Schmidt's. From reading the comments, it looks like I should try more of the Megababe deodorants too;)

Best natural deodorant ever is called “Thai Crystal Deodorant Stick”. $6 at Whole Foods and lasts forever. Only ingredient is mineral salt and it’s anti-bacterial, so you don’t stink! I wish everyone knew about this. Life changing.

I love AKT for natural deodorant. I've tried a number of them as I went through IVF, then pregnancy and breastfeeding and by FAR AKT was the most effective. Even against postpartum hormonal stink, which is saying something.
