platonic love code of ethics
Why we limit affiliate, referral, or Amazon links; how we choose the brands we feature; and more.
We care about doing right by you, and we want you to feel 100% confident in what we’re sharing in platonic love. Here are the guiding principles we follow to ensure we’re giving you our best:
We only share links to things we genuinely love. Which also means that…
We rarely use affiliate or referral links. Affiliates are an important way for creators to generate revenue from their work. But we’d hate for our content to be influenced or swayed by the value of an affiliate commission — which is why we only share links for products we genuinely love (see point #1). We believe in everything we’re sharing with you — and we want you to, too.1
We prioritize sustainably made, size-inclusive, and women/BIPOC-owned businesses. We’re both cis-gender, white women. If we can do a better job of using this platform to elevate the voices of (and sell products from!) non-cis, non-white creators, we’d love to hear from you.
We share a range of price points. Part of this is our commitment to #3. Part of it is our commitment that we only link to Amazon when we can’t find the product or service at a comparable price on a different site. We’re doing our best to make sure this newsletter is a reflection of our broader values and worldview.
What this means:
You’ll be confident in all of our recommendations.
We won’t encourage you to spend more than you should or buy things that won’t legitimately enrich your life.
We want to hear from you: what types of content or links are speaking to you? Where else could we look to find inspiration?
To support us with this approach and make sure we can keep sharing the content we genuinely love, please consider upgrading to a paid subscription.
love,
Aja & Aliza
One of these exceptions is bookshop.org, an online bookstore that aims to financially support independent, local bookstores. We love Bookshop!
