A favorite condiment, ballet-inspired loungewear, and a 1993 movie worth rewatching
Links we sent our friends #89 feat. Pandora Sykes
Hi! How’s everyone doing? I (Aliza) have a big week ahead — with some intimidating personal stuff — but as I told my friend Suz, I’m *trying* to be kind to myself, sleep a lot, and do a few fun things, too.
Speaking of fun… I’m so excited to introduce you to this week’s guest!
Many of our readers already know
, the London-based bestselling author, co-host of the smash hit podcast The High Low, writer of our favorite bookish newsletter , and all-around cultural taste-maker. Pandora is so accomplished, you’d be right to be intimidated by her… but across all mediums, her warmth, charm, and delightful older-sister energy is palpable. We’re honored to have her sharing links with Platonic Love this week.

My son loves to help with the cooking but I was always terrified of him slicing a digit off. Thrilled, therefore, to discover Le Petit Chef knife and peeler. I now have enough grated carrots to last me till 2026.
It turns out the Le Bonne Shoppe balloon pants really are as good as
says. I bought them in white and black and now I don’t want to wear anything else. (Aliza: I want to live in those pants!!)White Masu’s Peanut Rayu is officially my favourite condiment. Makes for a lovely and inexpensive gift for a sober host, too.
If you have a deeply feeling kid, as Dr. Becky would say, I recommend The Happy Self Journal. They make them for adults too!
I’m as looking for toys which are A) subtly educational and B) aren’t going to break in two seconds flat, and I love The Fat Brain Co’s (yes, queasy brand name) Tobbles as much as the one-year-old. There’s something extremely therapeutic about balancing the little cracked eggs in random orders.
If you’re looking to add texture to a room, vintage kilim and suzani cushions are always a win. The Vintage Pillow Store has this cute pair of striped ones.

My friends and I have been talking about The Pitt nonstop. Turns out that real healthcare professionals like it too.
File this small home improvement item under: How did it take me so long to buy it?
One of my favorite suspense thrillers was turned into an eight-episode series starring Amanda Seyfried. (If you haven’t read the book yet, you still have a few more weeks!) (H/t
.)This New York Magazine series on how generational wealth is subsidizing many Millennials’ lifestyles fascinated me.
Jude’s ongoing Nutcracker obsession has me really wanting to take a ballet class again… or at least wear cute ballet-inspired loungewear. (Aja: I would take a class with you!!)
Ugh, Trump’s firing of 1,000 National Park Services employees is devastating. Growing up in Tennessee, my dad took my sister and me camping in the Smoky Mountains every year… and as we’ve gotten older, we continue to make some of our favorite memories in national parks.

Sam and I watched the 1993 movie The Secret Garden on a recent snowy night, and can I just say? It held up. The score is beautiful, and Maggie Smith (!!) has a great role as a despotic housekeeper.
I rediscovered these heated disposable eye masks at a Japanese sundries store in Chinatown. When we went to Japan a few years ago, the hotels would leave them by our bed each night. So thrilled to have them back in my life; they’re a lovely treat.
A very believable theory for why you might have been bossier lately.
Getting a phone case with a magnetic card sleeve on the back is one of the smartest things I’ve ever done. (This Maison du Sabre version is very chic — and on sale!)
I made this roasted brussel sprouts caesar with tahini dish from Yasmin Fahr at NYT Cooking (gift link) for dinner last week, and it tasted more decadent than it should’ve. Still going strong on my new year’s resolution of cooking one new recipe per week. Any dishes you’ve been loving lately?
The concept behind Slow Art Day is so good: Go to a museum, pick two to five pieces of art, and spend five to ten minutes with each.
A few weeks ago, I (Aliza) mentioned my mom had sent me a personal curated book box from Rebooked. After we shared it, I got the nicest note from Rebooked’s founder, Elizabeth (sharing with her permission):
I was wondering why I suddenly got a bunch of new followers and then one of your subscribers ordered a box and told me where she heard about me. I’m so glad you loved Inheritance! And I can’t tell you how much it means to my tiny little business to get your rave review. I appreciate it so, so much!!
