I think it’s the most obvious answer but start out with John Mulaney Kid Gorgeous. It’s one of the best specials in the last ten years. Then move on to Mike Birbiglia the new one!
Hahaha I’m in the comedy world so it seemed like stating the obvious 😅 so I suppose I will add more to the list! Taylor Tomlinson’s quarter life crisis, Jerrod Carmichael’s Rothaniel, Nate Bargatze’s The Tennessee Kid, Tig Notaro Happy to be Here, Cat Cohen’s The Twist She’s Gorgeous, Nikki Glaser Someday You’ll Die
Definitely recommend Ali Wong's most recent Netflix special, Single Lady! Watched it live with girlfriends when she was touring, and our bellies hurt from laughing.
Joe Pera's comedy special on YouTube is great! also his Adult Swim show, Joe Pera Talks With You, is worth tracking down (I think they just took it off HBO Max). soooo many episodes made me cry in the best way and I can't stop thinking about it!
Watching comedy stand-ups over dinner is one of our favorite weeknight traditions after a long day! It’s hard to pick just one, but here are some recent favorites:
Fortune Feimster
Matt Rife (including the crowd work special)
Iliza Schlesinger
Neal Brennan
Ali Wong (especially the most recent special)
Taylor Tomlinson
The Roast of Tom Brady - an ab workout and my face hurt from laughing so hard
The Netflix algorithm is pretty good, once you start watching and rating, it makes pretty good suggestions. Whenever we see the “you think you’ll love this” it ends up being true (and vice versa)
I just watched Roy Wood Jrs standup on Hulu which was great! Also recommend Michelle Buteau’s standup from 2021 on Netflix. I’ve prob watched it 3 times.
On the topic of pop-up bagels : the bagels are good, the cream cheese and butter are delicious. The Collabs are adorable, yummy and very smart marketing. I, However, was taught to eat like a lady. And tearing and dipping your bagel is downright drunk, frat boy behavior.
I know this is from a week ago, but I have thought about Chris Grace’s special on Dropout.tv (yes a different streamer, but chock full of comedy gems!!) called “Chris Grace as Scarlett Johansson” at least once a week since I watched it over the summer. Such an incredible rumination on identity through the comedy lens. Hank Green’s special, “Pissing Out Cancer” is also an excellent one (and he does go into depth about having cancer as a CW for folks).
Marc Maron's standup! We saw him in Vancouver last year and he was so, so good live. Also love Glow (which he stars in on Netflix) if you haven't seen it!

I loooove Mike Birbiglia's the new one! I saw him perform it live in DC years ago (before having kids), and I could hardly catch my breath.
Not obvious to meeee! Thank you Julia!

On mittens: get a pair of liner gloves. Elevate the warmth and comfort of literally any pair of mittens. AND prevent dry chapped hands.
Ooh hot tip (literally).
Oooh wow! Do you have a pair you'd recommend? Do you have to buy your regular gloves a size up so that they still fit over them?
Mine are just MEC label (Canadian REI). But I think smartwool and icebreaker have some? Merino or polypropylene is what you're looking for.
I wear mittens, and so far hasn't been a sizing issue. not sure about gloves though!
Ahh I didn’t realize PopUp Bagels was officially open! I’ll have to check it out. Aja, nice meeting you at Neha’s event!
Come with us!! Would love to chat more (and try these bagels, obviously.)
Would love to! Let’s do it!
the bed linen!!! saving up NOW!
The bed linen is sooo you TBH

Definitely recommend Ali Wong's most recent Netflix special, Single Lady! Watched it live with girlfriends when she was touring, and our bellies hurt from laughing.
The best endorsement! Thanks for the rec.
Nate Bargatze’s specials are top tier
Adding him to the list!
Sheng Wang’s Sweet and Juicy is really good!
ooh the name alone has hooked me
Joe Pera's comedy special on YouTube is great! also his Adult Swim show, Joe Pera Talks With You, is worth tracking down (I think they just took it off HBO Max). soooo many episodes made me cry in the best way and I can't stop thinking about it!
Wow you couldn't have written a more compelling teaser (I love crying in a good way.)
The article on specific talk is so interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Right?!
A little controversial but Bill Burr at Red Rocks is incredible
Ha, the Netflix description calls this a "fiery" set. Will def check it out.

OMG what a rich list!
This is the best tradition. Fortune Feimster is THE BEST! Also, second ali wong! baby cobra KILLED me.

Hahahah, Franny, you're killing me w/ the bagel reference.
I just finished my first box of cornea care eye masks - they really are amazing for dry eyes
Ooh my package is en route; I'm excited to try!

Ooh definitely not too late; I'm keeping a running list of recs. These both sound great — thank you!!

Have not seen *either*! Added to the list!
Love the bingo card concept!!! I might have to add one to my profile :)
Do it, it's a lot of fun :)
