Hi hi! How was your Fourth/weekend? Like last year, I was on the Cape and Aliza was on Martha’s Vineyard — lots of beach time, seafood, and sunscreen for us both — but now we’re back: in Boston, to work, and (most importantly) with some new links.
Aja’s Links:
Sam gave me a keychain ring-holder a few years ago, and every time I go to the beach, I remember how useful it is.
Speaking of rings, I’ve had this one open in a tab for a few weeks now.
Heartwarming: Hundreds of queer senior citizens go (back) to prom.
How to make the perfect summer sandwich.
My favorite vacation books of 2024 so far: The God of the Woods, mystery/thriller writer Liz Moore’s latest — I stayed up late to finish it; Margot’s Got Money Troubles, a funny, irreverent, and heartwarming novel by Rufi Thorpe I’ll be thinking about for a while; and Vintage Munro, a collection of Alice Munro short stories (borrowed from my mother-in-law’s bookshelf) about divorce, death, and infidelity (heavy topics treated so deftly!) Plus, of course, Sandwich, which Aliza mentioned last week.

This show captivated me. Per usual, and have a timely and thoughtful take.
Chipotle kid’s meals are my current no-dirty-dishes meal hack. $6 for a quesadilla, rice and beans, guac, chips, and a milk carton.
A sexy one-piece (h/t a friend at last weekend’s Newport bachelorette weekend.)
Anyone else on vacation and planning your next vacation? I had no clue that 75% of these travel sites existed.
Newsletter we sent our friends:
I (Aja) loved ’s recap of her girl’s trip to Long Island — “Confirmed the ocean is still healing” — which made me feel like I was there with the group, comparing tan lines, admiring gorgeous houses, drinking a marg in the outdoor shower, and quickly forming vacation rituals. Some previous favorites from , which discusses food, fashion, relationships, New York City, “tasteful partying,” and more modern-day Sex and the City topics:
Cake for lunch: Summer ins and outs (co-written with Angelina’s friend — very fun & funny)
Question we asked our friends:
What’s your beach/lake/river secret weapon? Mine is the aforementioned ring-holder. I’m also intrigued by this contraption, which is a lot lighter and easier-to-use than a traditional umbrella…

I just got back from a long beach vacation and I swear the one thing that made me feel most sane and civilized was my box of unscented baby wipes. The cure for all sorts of beach sins that shall go unmentioned here.
I had never touched a wet wipe until I became a mother 7 years ago and now I wonder how I ever lived without them. 😂😂🤷🏻♀️
As a mom with two very young kids, the best beach hack we've found is bringing a small/kiddie inflatable pool to the beach, use some buckets to fill it with ocean water (and let it sit out in the sun if the water needs to warm up a bit), throw an umbrella over it, and it's perfect for keeping the babes happy and cool on a hot day!
