Aja and I are unfortunately not in the Caribbean (April Fool’s, ha) — but it was fun to have some guest stars last week anyway. We did take a long, winding stroll through Cambridge/Somerville on a sunny Sunday afternoon (including a stop at Yafa Bakery & Cafe ), which was lovely.
This week, we’re excited to share guest links from working mom, podcast host, and new friend Ellie Rineck.
Ellie’s podcast A Day In Her Life is a fascinating glimpse into the lives of modern women. She’s talked to dozens of female powerhouses, including author
, Solly Baby CEO Nicole Newhouse, recipe developer , and — coming this week! — yours truly, delving into their daily routines as well as the choices and trade-offs they’ve made. If you’ve ever looked at another woman and wondered, “How?!” (so, all of us), check out the pod.Take it away, Ellie!

This romance series had me staying up hours past bedtime. With two kids, it has to really be worth it to lose those precious hours of sleep.
I’ve been served a lot of nostalgic Instagram content recently, and my DMs with my sister are volleying back and forth the toys we played with as kids in the early 90s. Did you play this all the time? Did you have these? Did you desperately want everything in these? Does this give you all the teeny tiny feels?
If you wear a retainer, Invisalign, or something similar, this thing is amazing. My mom and sister raved about it, and I didn’t get it until I got it. (Aja: !!! Genius.)
I just came back from a trip with ten friends. Planning these things is not easy, but once it comes together, it’s worth it. A friend from college recommended this app to help with coordination, and I wish it had existed in my Bachelorette party heyday seven years ago. It makes group planning so much easier.
I am SO excited for this week’s episode of A Day In Her Life with Aja and Aliza! It will be live tomorrow. Check it out on Apple Podcasts or Spotify (or wherever you get your podcasts).

While Ellie and her sister are reminiscing about old toys, I’m scrolling through scans of old Delia’s catalogs…
Loved these stories of dramatic career pivots that went well (especially number five).
Wine expert
’s step-by-step process to choosing a bottle made me want to go out and buy some wine immediately to test my new knowledge. H/t to for sharing.Sometime in the past year, I’ve gone from relative spicy food wimp to hot sauce/chili/pepper lover. Is this an aging thing? Regardless, I insisted Sam and I watch Superhot, a Hulu documentary about people obsessed with spice. It’s a great low-stakes show.
If I ever won the lottery, I wouldn’t tell anyone. But there would be signs.

New episodes of Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Wiser Than Me can’t come out quickly enough. This podcast was one of my first Platonic Love recommendations — and I’m so happy she’s back with a second season (hello, Bonnie Raitt!)
As a former Vandy women’s basketball “super fan” (circa 2001-ish), it’s been a pretty awesome month for women’s sports.
And trust me, we’re going to be hearing a lot more about figure skating phenom Amber Glenn in the coming weeks.
Bookmark this small business for the next time you need an easy yet special gift.
- ’s thoughtful and practical advice for first-time moms is what all advice should be like.
I guess nostalgia is in the air this week… because this made me laugh. What were we thinking?!
Question we asked our friends (you!):
As we continue to grow, Aja and I have spent a lot of time researching, discussing, and strategizing how to make Platonic Love a sustainable endeavor. It’s a big commitment (often 15+ hours per week), and so we’re looking for ways to compensate ourselves for that time and effort while remaining true to our values and mission.
We’d love to get your feedback:
Option 1: We begin incorporating affiliate links. Our recommendations wouldn’t change (meaning we’d only use affiliate links with things we were already going to share), but we may earn a small commission on your purchase.
Option 2: We increase the frequency of paid content. Monday posts (like this one) would be free, but most Thursday essays would be partially or fully paywalled.
If you have questions or thoughts, please drop us a comment! We’d love to hear from you.
If you’re enjoying the newsletter (we hope you are!), there are a number of ways to show your support: “like” this post, leave a comment, or share Platonic Love with your friends. Thank you for being here!
I’m a true fan and trust your product suggestions. I think it’s great that you would make a commission on recommendations.
Thank you for the shoutout! So excited to listen to the pod!!
